Syetarn is EIU’s lead analyst for ASEAN. She is responsible for the coverage and forecasts of Japan, Thailand, and Cambodia.

Before joining EIU, Syetarn worked at various financial institutions, holding a senior economist role at Deutsche Bank, advising the Asia Pacific Risk team on macroeconomic and country risk. She published several articles under Deutsche Bank Research on Asian topics. She was a Visiting Fellow at the Singapore based ISEAS Yusof Ishak Institute with a research interest on Thailand economy. She started her career at the Bank of Thailand, the central bank.

Syetarn holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics and international relations from Tufts University and a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School, Tufts University. She is a recipient of the King’s scholarship and the Bank of Thailand scholarship
