Toshihiko brings nearly four decades of experience driving innovation and global strategy in the field of optical communications. Since joining Furukawa Electric in 1985, he has played a pivotal role across R&D, engineering, and business leadership functions, with a career dedicated to advancing fiber and photonics technologies.

He began his journey in the company’s Optical Technology Laboratory, rising through roles that include General Manager of the FITEL Products Division and Director of the Global Business Strategy Office. His leadership has been instrumental in global market expansion and the development of cutting-edge optical solutions.

Today, as Senior Executive Officer and Head of the Telecommunications Solutions Division, he leads Furukawa Electric’s strategic direction in next-generation network infrastructure. He also heads the Next-Generation Photonics Business Creation Project Team, spearheading innovation that supports the future of high-speed, high-capacity connectivity.
