Shinji Asao was appointed Senior Vice President & Head of Optical Solutions domain at Furukawa Electric in 2026. He leads the company’s global optical communications and broadband infrastructure business.

With more than 35 years of experience in the optical communications industry, he has held leadership positions across manufacturing, business operations, and global management, including Senior Vice President of OFS Fitel, LLC in the United States.

Today, he is responsible for advancing Furukawa Electric’s optical solutions strategy and fostering industry collaboration to support next-generation broadband networks.
